TSL Education Ltd. secures two million users online information via ISo 27001 Information Security certification
TSL Education Ltd., an online education network, with over two million global members had been certified to the internationally recognised standard ISO 27001 Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) standard. TSL Education encompasses one of the fastest-growing, digital communities of any profession internationally making the Information Security standard of immense importance. At present the sister sites of TSL Education ‘Testconnect’ generates 2 million downloads every week and is home to more than 500,000 individually crafted teaching resources developed by teachers for teachers. The level of content being uploaded and downloaded reinforced the need for the company to undergo certification as the standard acts as an important, and independent, verification of the company’s security controls and data management processes.
In today’s competitive market information security has become a vital front line tool to combat the current, on-going targeted attacks on educational institutions. Over the past twelve months there has been numerous breaches within education institutions such as Cambridge University in the UK, Stanford University and Harvard to name but a few. While high profile breaches are readily reported within the media, the number which are not reported on or go undetected is still unclear which raises some data security concerns.
“Data protection and information security is of foremost importance for TSL Education and ISO 27001 provides a model for the organisation to employ in order to ensure data protection to the highest degree. TSL Education has placed itself above the vast majority of these organisations in the education space by ensuring they follow the very latest best practice in information security systems management. The ISO 27001 standard; with Certification Europe keeping a constant eye on internal standards; has given TSL Education demonstrable proof that they are at the fore front of information security for their sector,” commented Charlie Melia, Certification Europe Senior ISO Manager.
“Through their adoption of the information security standard they have emphasised their commitment to protecting their client’s online information and are leading the way in online education data protection. Certification Europe believes that all education providers and data sharing services should avail of the security which ISO Information security provides,” concluded Charlie Melia, Certification Europe.
