The Convention Centre Dublin receives triple certification from Certification Europe
Certification Europe awarded The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Certification in Quality Management(ISO 9001) and Environmental Management (ISO 14001), in conjunction with the British Security Standard (BS7499) at a recent presentation in The CCD. The CCD which is Ireland’s first purpose-built convention centre attained all three standards within eighteen months of opening which is an excellent accomplishment and underlines the organisations devotion to providing a world-class service.
Ciarán O’Malley Business Development Manager at the accredited certification body Certification Europe commented that “The CCD’s dedicated commitment to applying high standards via certification to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and BS7499 identify The CCD as a sustainable and customer focused venue”.
The CCD implemented a number of internal and external process changes in order to achieve certification. For example to receive ISO 9001 the CCD completed an external audit for which it was praised by Certification Europe for its customer-based approach and dedicated customer service. In assessing the Environmental Management Standard ISO 14001 Certification Europe found the company’s drive to establish The CCD as a sustainable venue highly commendable. Part of the sustainable drive involved establishing a target of recycling 85 percent of building waste in 2012 and ensuring that The CCD electrical energy is generated 100% from renewable resources. While the British Standard Code of Practice in Static Site guarding and mobile patrol service (BS7499:2007) complements the above two ISO standards within The CCD as it provides a code of best practice for security management.
“We are delighted to have received BS7499, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification from the certification body Certification Europe as it reinforces our commitment to long-term sustainability and quality assurance by the dedicated and passionate team,” commented Austin McCormack, Facilities and Infrastructure Director, The Convention Centre Dublin. “Certification Europe’s clearly structured assessment process and informed feedback during the audits added exceptional value to our business.”
From inception, the carbon neutral constructed convention centre has been committed to implementing an environmental policy, including information and guidance for event organisers on how to run a green event at the venue, as well as its online carbon calculator to help visitors to offset their carbon footprint. This type of strategic environmental devotion is well aligned to the core values of the Environmental Management standard ISO 14001 and the Quality Management standard ISO 9001; two standards which Certification Europe are experts in providing certification.
