ISO 50001 Energy Management Standard
ISO 50001 energy management standard is based on the same Plan -DO - Check - ACT architecture as ISO 9001, 14001 and other ISO standards.
ISO 50001 certification
ISO 50001 energy management standard certification is made up of a two stage audit process.
- ISO 50001 Stage 1 (Pre-certification Audit)
- ISO 50001 Stage 2 (Certification Audit)
The ISO 50001 Stage 1 pre-certification assessment involves the organisation's system being audited by Certification Europe expert energy system auditors to ensure the ISO 50001 meets the minimum requirements of the ISO 50001 standard. This is usually completed in one day but can take longer depending on the size of the organisation, the scope of the certification and the risks associated with the business practises.
The ISO 50001 Stage 2 Certification assessment involves a close out of issues raised in the first ISO 50001 audit and requires the Certification Europe audit team to dig deeper into a company's energy management system. This second stage audit can happen as soon as an organisation wants but it is the final check before the certification decision is made in the entire ISO process. For this reason it is advised to leave adequate time to resolve any non-conformances discovered in the Stage 1 audit.
