Cintas Document Management achieve ISO 22301 certification

Cintas achieve ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management

Cintas Document Management enters the exclusive league of ISO 22301 Business Continuity innovators.

Cintas Document Management UK Ltd. has achieved ISO 22301 Business Continuity UKAS accredited qualifications by Certification Europe.

Leeds, 25th April, 2013 - Certification Europe has awarded Cintas Document Management headquarters and operations in the UK with UKAS accredited ISO 22301 certification today.

Since its introduction, in June 2012, ISO 22301 has increasingly become the crisis management and disaster recovery assurance scheme of choice for an élite of business innovators. With this newly gained Business Continuity recognition Cintas has now entered the small number of companies worldwide that have achieved accredited ISO 22301 Societal Security – Business Continuity.

At the certificate conferring event in Cintas’ HQ, Michael Brophy, Certification Europe CEO stated: “As a global certification body we strive to be on the forefront of accredited certification typified by our leading role in ISO 22301, meaning that are now poised to support innovative and cutting-edge organisations like Cintas that are constantly pushing to adopt new and market leading standards. What Cintas has achieved here today sets them among a very selected group of organisations worldwide that have achieved BCM certification, and among only a handful globally that have successfully attained ISO 22301”.

ISO 22301 Business Continuity standard specifies requirements to plan, establish, operate, monitor, review, maintain and continually improve a documented management system to protect the organisation against disruptive incidents, reduce the probability that they might happen, act correctly and recover if they occur. The relevance of ISO 22301 Business Continuity however is that, by implementing Business Continuity best practice and protecting their business reputation, organisations extend their virtuous behaviour along their supply chain and customer base.

An improved level of security and a more efficient management of documents throughout their lifecycle on behalf of their clients is Cintas’ main achievement, as Jon Joyce, Managing Director explains: “With ISO 22301 Business Continuity firmly integrated into procedures we can feel confident - as can our stakeholders - in our ability to maintain and improve our services and supplies, whilst we continue to grow in the marketplace. A core Cintas business objective is to ‘exceed our customer’s expectations’, and this is also a stated aim in respect of business continuity”.

Cintas can now demonstrate to existing and new customers that they have a robust, more formal and structured ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management System, which ties together a number of areas of the company business into a structured and cohesive approach to continuous improvement.

By involving partners from across the UK business in the development and construction of the company’s BCMS, Cintas has increased employee engagement and the process has helped develop a far greater understanding of the complexity of the Business Continuity value chain and drive a broader awareness of its importance.

Within the organisation, ISO 22301 Business Continuity training has been integrated into Cintas’ induction programme and is a mandatory module in the annual refresher training, to keep individual risk analysis high on everyone’s agenda.

Human error plays an important part in preventing business continuity issues. For this reason, Cintas has extensively involved its staff in implementing and promoting security, comments Mark Daley, Regional General Manager: “Before ISO 22301 certification, internal exposure and understanding of Business Continuity at all levels of the business was minimal, with only a select few having any knowledge and capability within this area. A joined up approach to any and all business developments, as well as an understanding of the risks and impact on our business are now the keys of our BCMS. We aim to improve and develop our ISO 22301 best practice in line with our growth using it as a corner stone as we continue to exceed our customers’ expectations.”
